One Night
Performance, 2026
“I’ll not be writing about death, but about an altered condition of life. The experience that not only preoccupied but occupied me was of living in suddenly arrested time; that acute sensation of being cut off from any temporal flow”. - Denise Riley, Time Lived Without Its Flow
Using found sounds, field recordings and projection, One Night invites the listener into multiple timelines, some fictional some not, all intersecting across moments of melancholia and ecstasy. Using surrealism and fantasy as a means of exploring grief, this project presents this absence of linear temporal experience when facing intense loss.
